Saving money can prove to be quite a challenge for some people. Therefore, I present to you a brief guide to saving money every day, in every way.

1. Before going grocery shopping, make a list of all the items you need to buy and then stick to the list while shopping.

2. Scrutinise the local newspapers for coupons. Also maintain an eagle eye for coupons in letterboxes and online sites to find an abundance of coupons.

3. If you do not have the money, don’t buy it. Do not rely on credit cards for impulse buys.

4. Where possible use instant messaging to replace regular phone calls.

5. Plan a weekly menu so you can go shopping for foods and items that can be used more than once or items that are durable.

6. Shop around for high interest earning bank accounts. Have a look at Ubank for high interest rates.

7. Try to pay for your expenses in cash instead of cards. Transacting in cash will make you conscious of your expenditures and therefore make you more aware of your spending habits.

8. While shopping at supermarkets check out the bottom shelves in the supermarket for finding cheaper products.

9. Try to resell goods you no longer need or use.
